Buying Cheap Term Life Insurance

Ever try buying cheap term life insurance? Or better still, should you?

As to the ‘should you’ part, it’s often asked and is very easy to answer. If you have anyone who may possibly suffer financially due to the result of your death, or if you own a mortgage, then you really should have it.

Most of the time, the words ‘cheap term life insurance’, and just plain ‘life insurance’, mean that your policy will pay out by a lump sum if you should die. These policies are easy to come by, and the rates are veritably cheap. Basically, there are two different types of policies available to insurers:

  1. cheap decreasing term life insurance
  2. cheap level term life insurance

With ‘cheap decreasing term life insurance’, you’re going to get a policy that’s really cheap. Just a few monthly dollars will land you a decreasing term life insurance policy that’ll pay off your mortgage if you die prior to it reaching full term. The reason for it being called a ‘decreasing’ term life policy, is due to the fact that it gets reduced as your mortgage payments are made and the mortgage goes down. The low premium will stay in place for the life of the policy.

With ‘cheap level term life insurance’, you get a policy that’s not as cheap as the decreasing insurance. But both types are relatively cheap. The reason these policies run a little higher, is because instead of just paying off the mortgage, these policies will leave a lump sum for your partner or any dependents as well.

By taking advantage of a cheap level insurance policy, you have an additional option. It’s usually designed to run in tandem with your mortgage. But, with a cheap level policy you can also obtain one that runs differently from the term of the mortgage.

For example, if you wanted you could take out a Ten-year level term life insurance policy that’s separate from any other type of cheap premium life insurance you may have that covers your mortgage. This policy’s premiums are going to run higher, because the term is shorter. But it still provides you with additional life insurance in the event of your death.

You can find out more about these types of policies doing a quick online search. There is a lot of good information out there that can be found simply be surfing the net. If you own any type of insurance at this time, you may ask your provider for information as well.

How to Avoid Auto Insurance Scams

Auto insurance is a multi-billion dollar business with a huge market these days. And this business attracts different swindlers and scammers. And so, how do you protect yourself to insure your auto and choose the right auto insurance company?

These are some simple suggestions on how to be not scammed with your auto insurance.

1. Conduct research on how long an insurance company has been in this business before you purchase your auto insurance.

  • Search the Internet to search for different auto insurance companies, then compare rates and get free auto insurance quotes
  • Ask your friends about the auto insurance company they purchase insurance from — find out why they chose their company over others
  • Newspapers are also a good source for gathering information about the company you are considering using to insure your car.

In other words, try to collect all possible information about that company before spending your hard earned money on auto insurance.

2. Consider purchasing auto insurance from large credible (aka well known) companies. In some cases bigger is better, and when choosing an auto insurance company there is some validity to that statement. Sometimes dropping a few extra dollars on insurance can give you more peace of mind. This is not to say that all small auto insurance companies are scammers. It just means big insurance companies became the big ones because they have been offering better services than other insurance companies. In other words, make purchasing cheap auto insurance from a little known insurance company your fallback as opposed to you primary approach.

3. You should be aware that some auto insurance companies will try to get extra money from you on your car insurance rate. For example, you may get a really good rate, but there may be escalator clauses that allow them to increase your rate. Many are valid, but don’t just take increases without questioning them.

4. You enter into a legal contract with the auto insurance company when you agree to an insurance policy. Make sure, you read all the points of your contract with the insurance company carefully. Get the comprehensive information about your state for liability and uninsured motorist coverage.

Learn the situations for which you auto insurance covers you. For example, you won’t be covered if you insured your auto for personal driving and you use it for work purposes.

And so, as I already said above auto insurance scams are an increasing reality our days. Scammers always seek new tricks how to sell you fake auto insurance. Be diligent and keep your eyes open when you insure your car.

Ideally, you will never need to use your auto insurance, but when you do, you want it to work for you not against you.

Basic Auto Insurance Primer

If you are planning on buying a vehicle or have a vehicle, you will need insurance coverage for your vehicle. It is illegal to drive without car insurance, and you must be ready to pay large sums of money in fees to your state or the corresponding office.

Today, there are many insurance companies which provide coverage at all sorts of rates and finding the right company with the best coverage can be hard. Many people who have insurance do not know exactly what they are paying for and they just pay it because they have to.

Insurance rates can go up depending on your driving experience. New drivers have a larger insurance payment, while older drivers have a lower payment for the same premium. If insurance is claimed once, your insurance spikes up. You should search the internet for the best deals, but before you do, you should know exactly what you are looking for.

You do not need to obtain a coverage which you do not need. When you understand all the small bits and pieces of an insurance premium, you will be able to both save time and enjoy a cheaper insurance payment plan with maximum coverage.

Auto insurance comes in two different types; which are called liability only insurance and full coverage insurance. Sometimes people refer them to one-way insurance and two-way insurance. Let’s take a look at what they actually are.

Liability Only Insurance

This type of insurance covers the damage that may apply to the other driver and his vehicle. You must at least have this insurance to drive on the streets. An insurance company will never give you insurance without this; if they do there is something wrong. The minimum coverage you need is mainly fixed by the state or locality.

Contact any insurance broker and find out what this minimum is. Some states would want you to have a minimum coverage of ten thousands and some would want thirty thousands. However, if the damage caused is higher than your coverage, you would be in a dilemma. It’s best to ask your broker for information on how much coverage to get. He/she would know from experience on how much insurance coverage you would need, which also depends on your driving history.

Full Coverage Insurance

This type of insurance already includes the above mentioned type. As extras, it includes a collision coverage which protects your vehicle. If you finance or lease your vehicle, you will be required to get this type of insurance.

Comprehensive insurance is another type in which your vehicle is protected even if it is not damaged by a car. This can include damage caused by fire, weather, natural disasters etc. It also covers your vehicle from damage caused by people. You can expect your insurance payments to be higher if you have a costly luxury vehicle.

So, what exactly do companies use to calculate your insurance premiums?

Well, firstly it depends on if you are a new driver. Other factors are; driving history, age, gender, life status. Women pay less, single members pay less and men pay more. Young men pay more. It is highly important to drive with great caution for the first few years to have a good record and this will lead to a cheaper insurance premium.

We are Not Getting Younger!

The truth is that we will never be getting any younger. As ever second goes by, we age just a little more. Before long, we basically start reverting back to childhood in a geriatric sort of way. Needing more and more care, just like we did as we were younger.

For some adults, aging can happen earlier or later depending on the lifestyle one lived. No matter what lifestyle chosen, the simple fact is that just like a young child, an elderly adult is likely to experience an ever increasing need for medicines, healthcare and an almost constant supervision. In some countries, the children have the sole responsibility of having to take care of the parents as they age or get sick by any one of the many diseases that affect our elders.

But for many families around the world, the ability to have at least one person in your household not working and able to take care of elders is next to impossible due to the ever increasing costs of living which basically require more than 2 full-time incomes just to survive.

It is mainly for this reason, but when coupled with the increasing costs of healthcare and prescription medications, that the only option for many is a long term care insurance policy for sole purpose of assisting the aging person with these expenses. From healthcare to medicines to constant 24 hour supervision from a licensed nurse, long term care insurance is almost a necessity for most of the world’s inhabitants, whose income just cannot cover these costs.

Choosing a quality long term care insurance policy is also very important as some policies may not cover all the possibilities, while others may cover more than what you need and therefore become more of a financial drain than a help. Just remember to spend time researching all the various programs out there before making the official decision of which long term care insurance policy to choose.

Government Health Insurance Debate

Whether you are for or against a government healthcare solution there is no lack of debate and opinion on the web. For a wide sampling of opinions from both logical pragmatic thinkers and left and right leaning political wonks, check out the following links:

I find it valueable to look at the issue from both side, while not taking either side at their word. Politicians and “unbiased” news networks almost always present the data and statistics that back their case best on polarizing issues (and I’d say this is a polarizing issue).
